Thank you to Lyla, Georgia, and Conan for today's post!
Mrs.Gestrich’s class - inside the classroom!
This March we started off coming right back from break.
When we got back into the classroom our worms had babies! A few weeks before we noticed that there were eggs in the jar and now there are lots and LOTS of worms! Inside their habitats there are also plants growing that we think are squash …..for…..reasons. They also needed air fresheners. Also there are other little creatures that are helping decompose all of the food waste, they look like little ball bugs that are reproducing very quickly and seem to be taking over the habitat!! Next week in science we will start learning about the water cycle!
In social studies, we were learning about “Early English Settlements”, such as Roanoke, Jamestown and Plymouth. We learned their motives for moving to the proclaimed “New World”. Where they landed, all had problems like being unprepared, off course, wrong place, weather, etc…. Also when we were learning about sovereignty we came across Native Nations which are basically countries inside of the United States with their own laws and their own police. We went in depth at the activity period and learned more about how they learn the language and their culture and the environment. We also have social studies projects going on, and a lot of people are doing cheesy videos, too!
In math we continued our unit that we had started over February break. We learned new strategies in math, too. 3/15 we had a math test for module 3. As usual we had xtramath for homework everyday. We had a math test on March 15 and are now waiting for our scores. Now for our next math class we are going to be doing lesson 4.
In ELA we are working on over Physical Wellness Dimension Projects and have started reading another book called, “ Because Of Mr. Terupt.” It is about a teacher who impacted 6 different students.
On April 5th we will be going back to school 4 ½ days a week. Also at the end of the month we will be going on a virtual field trip to the theater.
